Since the first hospital opened in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1922, this unique philanthropy has grown to an extraordinary 22 hospitals in the United States, Canada, and Mexico City.
Shriners hospitals for children continues to change lives every day through innovative pediatric specialty care for children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate; regardless of the families’ ability to pay.
The more than 800 children that Mazol Shriners of Newfoundland and Labrador have helped since its incorporation in 1982, have been cared for in our hospitals in Montreal (orthopedic), Boston (burns), Philadelphia (spinal cord) and Chicago (cleft lip and palate). Our children are also seen by specialists at our outreach clinic at the James Paton Memorial hospital in Gander NL.
